One day, maybe I’ll decompress enough to accurately describe the emotional roller coaster this is…. But I’m absolutely positive I’ll never be able to express the depth of my gratitude for the support and generosity that just keeps coming.
Artful Dimensions Gallery contacted me late last night/early this morning to tell me that they had set up a go fund me account for moms medical expenses. I’ve been working with the social workers here to do what I can, but I know there are going to be LOTS of expenses down the road to recovery. Honestly, I just hadn’t been able to think about it too much because I’ve been so focused on just going hour to hour here.
I’m so touched by their campaign to help my mom — their good friend Colleen — and by each person who is donating. I don’t know how I’ll ever thank all of you. Truly, we are so blessed to have each and every one of you. My soul has been so terrified the last week, but as messages continue to pour in, and now THIS?!? My heart is full enough to burst this morning.

From Go-Fund-Me:
I have known Colleen McElfresh for many years now and have worked closely with her on the board of Artful Dimensions Gallery in Fredericksburg. She is one of the fiercest women I know, overcoming whatever life throws her way but is now in the fight of her life. Her circle of friends is wide as a small stained glass business owner for many years, Bluebird Glass Studio. This account is being set up to reach the largest audience possible, all her many friends in the art community and beyond.
As many of you know, Colleen has had some recent medical issues. On December 16, 2016 she had bleeding on her brain, a stroke, and leaking cerebral aneurysms. She was flown to VCU where she underwent surgery to stop the bleeding. Initially she was on a ventilator but has slowly been weaned off, is responding to commands and with God’s grace, steadily improving. But, more surgery is needed once she has stablized. And she is without health insurance.
So, the go-fund-me page is set up to shower Colleen with love and money so that she can concentrate on getting better. The road to health is long but let’s help Colleen with her biggest battle yet. Any amount is appreciated. It does take a village and together we can do this!
Thank you in advance for contributing whatever amount you can. I know I speak for the entire McElfresh family, thank you so.
