Captain’s Log: Surgery Day Part 2

6:59PM UPDATE:

MOM OUT OF SURGERY!!
HUGE SUCCESS!!!
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!
Mom is out of surgery. The surgeon says that the fistula is completely successfully shut. This reroutes a lot of blood and Mom’s brain to go a different direction (the CORRECT direction!) so they’re putting her in the ICU and they’re going to watch her carefully for a while. But all in all, an enormously successful surgery, very happy with the results and how mom did!! Consider the mission accomplished!!!!

5:30pm UPDATE:

They took her back AN HOUR ago but the nurse called out to say that they JUST STARTED!! The suspense of the day has been insane… So NOW we wait. Estimated time of surgery is approximately two hours… I’ll post an update when we know something.

2:30pm UPDATE:

(I so wish I could make this stuff up!!!)

So mom went back for pre-op like… 4 hours ago? And a doc came in about 20 minutes ago and said it would be another ~30min? So… we’re wondering if they just screwed up and gave us the wrong arrival time. Of COURSE no one would ever say so out loud… no worries. But the Doc has already done three other procedures today… Mom will be his fourth. Once she goes back there, the surgery should take ~2hrs.

So I said: “Well, it just means he’s had lots of warm up time to get really good at it today.”

And Bonnie says… perfectly seriously: “Yes, that’s how we’re looking at it. AND, he doesn’t look like he’s dragging ass or anything.”

And MOM says… with epic calmness: “His ass looks just fine!”

My day.

Is perfect.

(In all seriousness… it is a long time to sit on one’s bum… 🤣)

Life's too short for decaf coffee or annoying emails.

What I can't promise is regular, weekly emails. What I can promise is sporadic, humorous updates with a serious amount of gorgeous glassy adventures inside. Occasionally, there might even be a chance to join me for a cup o' coffee. (The really caffeinated kind!)
